Overview

Beth El Congregation has served the Jewish community of Winchester and surrounding communities in Virginia and West Virginia for more than 50 years. A member of the Union for Reform Judaism, Beth El responds to the needs of Jews across the entire religious spectrum, as well as to the needs of those who, while not Jewish themselves, are an integral part of a Jewish family.

As a tapestry of individuals from different backgrounds, we try to make everyone feel comfortable. Many of our members are Jews by choice. Non-Jewish spouses and partners are welcome to come to services and participate in synagogue life.

We are also enriched by members of all ages and family configurations. We have individuals who have been active for more than 50 years, as well as newcomers who join each year in anticipation of the High Holy Days. Some people join because they have children of school age, or because they’ve just moved to the area and want to meet other congregants.  Still others join because they’ve simply decided that they need to be part of the organized Jewish community.

As a small congregation, we believe that every voice is important.
